Arcadis is the leading global Design & Consultancy firm for natural and built assets. Arcadis the Netherlands has over 40 ecologists working together with colleagues in the areas of infrastructure, management plans, solving defragmentation issues for wildlife int the Netherlands.

With our team of ecologists, architects and building engineers Arcadis has designed several wildlife crossings and passages, among which the largest wildlife crossing in Europe, and several others throughout the Netherlands. Our integral approach ensures we incorporate environmental and nature conservation issues as early as possible, in the planning phase of a project. An example of this which will be presented at IENE together with Rijkswaterstaat, which is the spatial integration plan for the highway A2 in the Netherlands.

Another area Arcadis pioneers in is monitoring of passages. After the realization of wildlife crossings and passages, it’s highly important that wildlife crossing function properly. This means good management and monitoring of these passages is essential. Arcadis developed an online platform both to monitoring these passages and communicate results to citizens: Built as an interactive platform with gamification – an increasingly important digital engagement tool – people can watch monitoring videos and identify the animals they see, helping with categorizing and logging the variety of species. At IENE 2018 we present this platform to you through an interactive workshop.

Finally:  since the 1st of April 2017 Arcadis has co-signed the Greendeal Infrastructure and now the company is working together with their partners in this deal to strengthen biodiversity among different types of infrastructure in the Netherlands. Within this Greendeal an effort is made to solve bottlenecks and look for opportunities to contribute to a higher biodiversity. Our partners and us are excited to share our insights at the IENE conference 2018.
